For Your Reading Pleasure

Some of you who read this blog might be interested in reading the work of others from Bath County, so this post will direct you to them and their books or blogs.  There will be more to come, but for now we'll start with these three.

My son, Jacob Kincaid, has written three published pieces (two self-published and one traditionally published).  Here are the links to his works:

He wrote the chapter on Freud in this book on pop culture and philosophy.

Book 1 of his Paint Lick series.

Book 2 of his Paint Lick series.

Our friend Kyle Hager (son of David Hager and Becky Davis) blogs about his travels abroad. You can keep up with him here.

My friend Dewayne Mynhier has written quite a few things.  Here is a link to his book on Amazon:  Where Islands Are.  Make sure and read "About the Author" at that link, where, in case you don't know Dewayne, you can read a bit about him, including the fact that he grew up in Salt Lick.

A bit from Dewyane:

"I was still at his house when mom and dad came home from work. I was looking through the screen door and could hear that witch telling my mom what I had done. Mom came down the yard, only stopping long enough to pluck a limber limb from a maple tree. When she made it to my granddad’s door she told me what a whipping I was going to get. My granddad looked at her and said, “You’re not going to whip that boy as long as I’m around.” She yanked the door open; he grabbed me up in his arms and kept between me and mom. She was so mad that she said, “If you ain’t going to let me whip him, I’ll whip your ass.” She started to swinging that switch and laying it to him. He never flinched or said a word. He just hunkered over me and took it.

I always figured a man that would do that for a boy was never going to say anything too bad about that boy in his night prayers."
